Recruiter launches .mobi site

The People Group, a Dublin - based sales and marketing recruiter, has launched a new service allowing candidates to apply for jobs from their mobile phones.

The company commissioned online marketing specialist Evolution-e to build a mobile optimised website aimed at candidates with smartphones.

Colm Buckley, managing director of The People Group, said the service would allow jobseekers to apply for positions using Android based smartphones and iPhones.

The recruiter launched the .mobi site, having monitored trends among visitors to its site www.peoplegroup.ie over a six-month period. Buckley said it noted "huge growth" in the numbers using mobile phones to access the site, the mobile version of which can be accessed atwww.thepeoplegroup.mobi.

"Evolution-e built a system to ensure that visitors to our website, via mobile phone, have a quicker and better experience in searching and applying for jobs online," said Buckley.

"By listening to our candidates' and clients' needs, we saw this as an excellent extension of our website offering and already we are getting great feedback and an increase in candidate applications, which helps us to fulfil our client's roles."
